Why use Ecomist rather than a normal fly spray?

Ecomist provides Insect Control Automatically 24 hours a day. Because Ecomist uses only natural pyrethrins it actually repels bugs creating an insect free zone. Pyrethrins are biodegradable as they break down in sunlight so there is no build up of residue.

What types of insects does Ecomist control?

Ecomist is effective in controlling most insects including flies, ants, cockroaches, spiders, fleas, dust mites and mosquitoes.

Where can I get an Ecomist?

Ecomist is sold throughout New Zealand by our franchise network. To reach your local franchisee call 0800 75 75 78 or you can buy online from our secure website at www.ecomistsystems.com

Will my insect dispenser also do fragrance?

Yes. Ecomist dispensers are designed to take either Insect Killer or any of our range of perfumed cans.

What does an Ecomist Dispenser do?

Ecomist dispensers create a fine mist of product which is carried on natural air currents.

What are Natural Pyrethrins?

Pyrethrin is derived from the flowers of Chrysanthemum Cinerarifolium and possesses a unique combination of insecticidal properties. It contains not one but at least six distinct related insecticidal ingredients called Pyrethrins. Insects affected by Pyrethrin will try to escape from the threatening area.

How do I open my Ecomist dispenser?

You can open your Ecomist by pressing on the bottom of the unit and pulling away the face from the backplate.

Is this safe for around the family?

Yes, Ecomist is safe for around the family and pets. However, it is very toxic to aquatic organisms and should not be used near fish tanks or ponds.

How long does a can last?

Under ‘normal’ settings (a 30mg dose every 7 mins) a 250ml can would last about 4 weeks.

Where should I place my Ecomist dispenser?

• Install in a location where air currents will circulate the aerosol spray to areas where it is most required.

• Mount dispenser about 2 meters above the floor preferably where there is a clear area between the dispenser and the floor.

• Do not install near or next to an open window or extractor fan or aerosol spray will be lost

• Do not install your Ecomist directly over food, or food preparation areas

• Make sure that your Ecomist is installed in a well ventilated area and avoid small enclosed areas with no airflow

Caution: Do not install over appliances or furniture, e.g. Refrigerators, items made of plastic or polished surfaces.

What precautions should I take while using my Ecomist?

  • Keep out of reach of children
  • Do not disperse directly over food or food preparation areas (NZFSA approval guidelines)
  • Contents may damage paint, plastic and other applied finishes if dispersed directly onto such surfaces
  • Very toxic to aquatic organisms (do not use close to fish tanks)
  • Excessive inhalation or exposure may cause respiratory and skin sensitisation

Has Ecomist been approved?

Yes, Ecomist has approvals from the NZ Food Safety Authority and Agri-quality. For use in food establishments please contact your local franchisee for advise on dispenser placement.

Should I use my dispenser during winter?

At the end of the summer season flying insects may not be so prolific. However, insects such as ants, fleas, silver fish and cockroaches can be year round pests. We recommend continued use of your Ecomist dispenser with natural Pyrethrins insect killer throughout the year. Alternatively buildings can be fragranced using other Ecomist products such as: Ecomist Odour Neutraliser, Ecomist Fragrances, Ecomist Mood Makers

How often do I need to change the batteries?

The batteries will last up to a year in your dispenser. They should be replaced with alkaline batteries only.

If my Ecomist is not working, what should I do?

  • Ensure the unit is turned on. The E3, E4 and E6 dispensers have on switches inside the dispenser. The E7 has a power button on the outside of the dispenser
  • Check the can is not empty and the batteries are not flat.
  • Check the dispenser for signs of leaking – both outside and inside. If there is a leak or dribble this will need to be fixed by an Ecomist technician in order to properly fix the delicate mechanisms inside the dispenser.

If none of the above work, please phone your local Ecomist franchisee for further help. We have a full repair service and all of our dispensers are covered by a 3 year guarantee.
